The coco coir holds enough moisture around the cutting to help prevent it drying out while roots are developing, while the coarse perlite adds air spaces through the mix and helps excess water move through more freely.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eI also add a small amount of fertiliser to the mix, so that some nutrients are available once new roots begin to establish.
