Rhipsalis paradoxa
Rhipsalis paradoxa is a fascinating species of jungle cactus native to Southeast Brazil. This plant is known for its distinctive, twisted stems that give it an intriguing appearance. Unlike typical desert cacti, Rhipsalis paradoxa thrives in the understory of dense tropical forests, where it receives diffused light and high humidity. It is an epiphyte, meaning it often grows on other plants, particularly trees, in its natural habitat.
In terms of care, Rhipsalis paradoxa prefers a well-draining potting mix, ideally one that includes bark and perlite to mimic its natural environment. It should be placed in a location with bright, indirect light, such as a northeast-facing window. Although it enjoys humidity, it can tolerate moderate levels, making it suitable for indoor environments like bathrooms where humidity levels are higher.
Rhipsalis paradoxa is not a heavy feeder, so a quarterly application of a balanced fertiliser is sufficient. It is generally pest-free and can be a low-maintenance addition to a home garden. Its unique growth habit and adaptability make it an excellent choice for plant enthusiasts looking for an unusual and visually appealing houseplant.

These Rhipsalis plants are large and delicate, requiring careful handling to avoid damaging the stems. Given their size, it is recommended that they be collected or delivered directly from our greenhouse in Coogee, located within the Sydney metropolitan area.
If you opt for delivery, each plant will be dispatched in an XL Express parcel to ensure its safety during transit. Thank you for your understanding.
