Monstera standleyana

Monstera standleyana, commonly known as the five-hole plant, is a flowering species belonging to the Araceae family. Native to the tropical regions of Costa Rica, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama, it was first described by G.S. Bunting in 1967. This plant is characterised by its lance-shaped leaves that exhibit a glossy deep green colour, often adorned with striking white or yellow variegation. Unlike some other Monstera species, M. standleyana does not develop fenestrations (holes) in its leaves as it matures. It thrives in bright, indirect light and prefers a humid environment, ideally around 60% humidity, although it can adapt to lower levels. The plant is relatively hardy, requiring well-draining soil and regular watering, with the top 5 cm of soil allowed to dry out between waterings.
