Alocasia ‘Pink Passion’

Alocasia brancifolia ‘Pink Passion’ is one of those Alocasias that looks quite different from the broad, shield-shaped foliage most people associate with the genus. Its deeply divided green leaves create an almost fern-like silhouette, carried on distinctive pink petioles marked with dark green marbling and blotches.

For me, the stems are what really set this plant apart. The pink colouring becomes part of the display rather than simply supporting the foliage, giving the whole plant a much more architectural look as it develops.

‘Pink Passion’ is the horticultural trade name for this selected form of Alocasia brancifolia, a species native to Maluku and New Guinea.

Light: Bright indirect or diffused light; protect from harsh direct sunlight
Water: Keep the growing mix moist but well drained during active growth, allowing the upper portion to dry slightly before watering again
