Anthurium warocqueanum ‘Dark Narrow’ - Exact Specimen
Sydney collection only: collect from the Coogee greenhouse. This plant is not available for postage or shipping.
Anthurium warocqueanum, commonly known as the Queen Anthurium, is admired for its long, hanging foliage, velvety surface and pale veins that stand out against deep green leaves. The Dark Narrow form is particularly appealing to collectors who enjoy the elegant proportions of slender, elongated foliage.
Native to Colombia, the species grows as an epiphyte in wet tropical forests, using trees for support. Its leaves need room to hang freely, and their scale is a large part of the plant’s appeal. Dark Narrow is the descriptive form name used for this specimen.
This is a one-off release from my private collection. I’m selling it because it’s getting too large for my greenhouse. I expect it has some very large leaves ahead of it, and I’d prefer someone with the space to enjoy them to take over its care.
For a collector looking for a substantial Queen Anthurium, the appeal is in this individual plant: its Dark Narrow form, its private-collection history and foliage already reaching 70 cm long. Only this one specimen is available.
The plant is growing in a 250 mm pot, 20 cm deep. I have added a 120 mm extension pot around the base of the plant to encourage root growth; the main plant remains in its 250 mm pot. The newest leaf is still expanding and is already 45 cm long.
Condition disclosure: An older leaf measures 70 cm long and has slight damage. The leaf produced between that older leaf and the current new growth was removed after possum damage. Please take this leaf history and the existing damage into account when considering the specimen.
