Ceropegia woodii, commonly known as String of Hearts, is a much-loved trailing plant prized for its delicate stems and beautifully patterned, heart-shaped leaves. The grey-green foliage is marked with silvery marbling and complemented by rich purple colouring beneath each leaf.
Its slender stems can grow to a metre or more, creating an elegant cascade when displayed in a hanging planter or on an elevated shelf. Small tubers may develop along the stems, while mature plants can produce distinctive pink-and-purple tubular flowers.
Compact at the base yet increasingly dramatic as the stems lengthen, String of Hearts is an excellent choice for adding trailing foliage without occupying much surface space.
Light: Bright indirect light; insufficient light may result in greener foliage and more widely spaced growth
Water: Allow the potting mix to dry substantially between waterings, then water thoroughly and allow all excess water to drain
Humidity: Prefers low to moderate humidity with good airflow
