Black Bat Plant - Exact Specimen
Tacca chantrieri, commonly known as the Black Bat Plant, is a tropical foliage plant with an extraordinary flowering display. Dark, wing-like bracts surround the flowers, while long, fine bracteoles hang beneath them like whiskers, creating the distinctive bat-like silhouette.
The broad green foliage gives the plant a lush appearance even between flowering periods. Naturally associated with sheltered tropical forest conditions, it is best suited to a warm, shaded position with humidity, good airflow and a growing mix that retains some moisture while draining freely.
This exact specimen is growing in a 140mm pot and carries four established leaves, with one additional leaf emerging. It currently has two flowers, bringing together the species’ distinctive floral display and fresh developing foliage.
