Abromeitiella brevifolia
Deuterocohnia brevifolia, formerly widely known as Abromeitiella brevifolia, is an unusual collector bromeliad prized for its exceptionally compact growth and distinctive cushion-like form. Each plant produces a small rosette of rigid, pointed leaves, with offsets gradually accumulating into dense geometric mounds.
Its very slow growth is an important part of its appeal. Substantial specimens take time to develop, gradually becoming increasingly intricate as tightly packed rosettes build into a living mound. This slow progression makes mature plants particularly desirable as specimen bromeliads among specialist growers and collectors.
Native to Bolivia and north-western Argentina, Deuterocohnia brevifolia is a terrestrial or rock-growing bromeliad adapted to bright conditions and excellent drainage. Mature plants may produce small tubular green flowers, although the remarkable foliage and clustering habit remain the main attraction.
Available specimens
Plant A — Japanese Bonsai Pot
This specimen is presented in a collector Japanese bonsai pot, giving the plant an especially strong display presence. The combination of the established bromeliad mound and ceramic pot makes this a substantial and heavy specimen.
Collection is strongly recommended. Shipping can be arranged if required, but postage will be expensive due to the overall weight.
Plant B — Terracotta Pot
This specimen is growing in a standard terracotta pot. It is also a substantial, heavy plant, so local collection is recommended. Shipping may be possible, but the weight of the specimen will result in higher postage costs.
