Alocasia ‘Low Rider’

Alocasia ‘Low Rider’ is a compact Alocasia with the bold tropical look of the larger elephant ears, but in a much more manageable form. Its glossy green leaves have strongly waved edges and are held upright, creating a dense, architectural plant without the height of many other Alocasias.

‘Low Rider’ originated as a dwarf form of Alocasia ‘Portora’ and typically grows to around 60 cm tall at maturity. That smaller scale makes it much easier to accommodate indoors or in pots, while still giving you the strong foliage and presence associated with larger Alocasias.

I particularly like this one for smaller indoor spaces, patios and sheltered positions where you want the look of a substantial Alocasia without it quickly overwhelming the area around it.

Light: Bright indirect or filtered light; protect from harsh direct sunlight
Water: Keep the growing mix lightly moist during active growth, allowing the upper portion to dry slightly between waterings
Humidity: Appreciates moderate to high humidity with good airflow
Growth Habit: Compact, upright Alocasia with a dwarf growth habit, reaching approximately 60 cm tall
