Angel Wing Begonia
Angel Wing Begonias are a beautiful group of cane-growing Begonias, recognised by their upright stems and distinctive asymmetrical leaves that resemble the shape of a wing. Depending on the variety, the foliage can range from rich green through bronze, silver and burgundy, often with spots, markings or contrasting undersides.
What I like about the cane Begonias is the combination of foliage and structure. As they grow, the stems become taller and more architectural, while clusters of flowers can hang beneath the leaves in shades of white, pink, red or orange depending on the plant.
They can develop into substantial indoor specimens over time, and occasional pruning helps keep the plant fuller and encourages branching rather than allowing a few canes to become overly tall.
Light: Bright filtered or indirect light; protect from strong midday and afternoon sun
Water: Keep the growing mix lightly moist but well drained, allowing the surface to dry slightly between waterings
Humidity: Appreciates moderate to high humidity with good airflow
Growth Habit: Upright, cane-forming Begonia with bamboo-like stems and branching growth
Common names: Angel Wing Begonia, Angelwing Begonia, Cane Begonia, Cane-type Begonia.
Each plant is unique and may vary in size, shape, foliage colour, markings and flowering depending on the individual variety.
