Philodendron 'Jose Buono'
Philodendron ‘Jose Buono’ is a collector Philodendron known for its large foliage and bold, unpredictable variegation. The leaves develop individual patterns of deep green, cream and pale yellow, from scattered splashes and marbling through to much larger contrasting sections.
What I particularly like about Jose Buono is how substantial it becomes with maturity. This isn’t a delicate variegated plant — given something sturdy to climb, the foliage can become increasingly large and the changing pattern from one leaf to the next becomes a major part of the display.
It is naturally a climber, so I recommend giving it a moss pole or another strong vertical support as it develops. This gives the aerial roots somewhere to attach and allows the plant to grow into its more mature form.
Light: Bright indirect or filtered light; protect heavily variegated sections from harsh direct sunlight
Water: Allow the upper portion of the growing mix to dry slightly between waterings, then water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain
Humidity: Appreciates moderate to high humidity with good airflow
Growth Habit: Large climbing Philodendron that benefits from sturdy vertical support
Common names: Philodendron Jose Buono, Jose Buono Philodendron, Variegated Philodendron Jose Buono.
Each plant is unique and may vary in size, shape, maturity and variegation pattern.
